Gwinn is a small (population under 2000) unincorporated area south of Marquette down Rt 553. Planned as a model town to support a mining company, the Gwinn area has a storied history in fact it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places due to the way it was planned and laid out. Renovations have recently taken place in downtown Gwinn due federal funding.
